(Updated with Survey Link) School Social Work Practice During a Pandemic Survey Project
Our SSW Practice During A Pandemic Survey Project link is now live here and on SSWNetwork. Please consider sharing your perspective on how your SSW practice has been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, and stay tuned here on SSWN, SSWNetwork and our other social media channels as we share the survey findings later this Summer and Fall. Thanks for all that you’re doing and for considering this invitation.
Dear SSWNetwork Colleague,
You are being invited to take part in this research study about school social work practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. You are being invited to participate because you are a school social worker and already a member of the free social media platform SSWNetwork. The study is being sent to all members of this social media platform, and we hope that you consider participating in the brief survey we’ve created and are sending out in a separate link to the entire SSWNetwork community. Your participation is completely voluntary and your decision whether or not to participate will have no effect on your membership in SSWNetwork, your further participation and usage of the site, or your professional standing as a school social worker.
The purpose of the study is to learn about school social work practice during this pandemic time of COVID-19. School social workers form a vital component in mental health and preventative service provision to children in schools around the United States, and many schools (and school social workers) have had to quickly adapt and adjust to this new situation of school closure, stay-at-home orders, and remote learning. Yet, little is known about the state of school social work practice during this time, and what specific needs school social workers are identifying for their school communities and for themselves as practitioners adjusting to these new and uncertain situations. This project will incorporate new survey research on school social work practice to inform educators, practitioners and policymakers as they shape school social work practice during this pandemic and after schools re-open and school social workers are back in their schools.
It is our hope that you will assist us in our efforts to gain a solid national picture of school social work practice during this pandemic—and in doing so, assist our profession in clarifying and expressing the value of what we are doing right now to support our schools. If you have questions about how the survey data will be used or about the security plan we have in place to protect the identity and personal information of your involvement, please contact us at [email protected]. Thank you for your support and if you’re interested in participating, please click the link below. You can also feel free to share this link widely with all of your SSW colleagues.
