Effective Interventions to Help Students With Body Image Issues: A SSWN Research Brief

School social workers are busy people.
Finding good research takes time.
We want to help.
Editor’s Note: Here at SSWN we post Research Briefs (RBs) regularly. These RBs were completed by school social workers like you, taking research they’ve found and applying it to their school contexts. These RBs will describe research articles and what the particular study could contribute to your school social work practice, starting as soon as tomorrow. They will cover the kinds of things you see every day in your practice and (hopefully) be written in a way that you can use the information immediately. We’re excited to share an extensive meta-analysis of effective interventions to help youth handle their body image issues. Here is a RB by a school social worker and current Loyola student, Ms. Mary Thomas, drawing on her work on helping adolescents at her high school placement with body image issues.
Research-Brief-Thomas-FinalHere is the article itself, fortunately available as an open access study to download and share. Please tell us what you think about the study findings and how you are going to apply them here or on our sister social media site, SSWNetwork, where over 2,100 school clinicians are working with complicated and challenging school clients and talking about their work. SSWNetwork is always free to join here , and you can get your own copy of the Alleva et al. 2015 article here.
